The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a voluntary youth programme under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, established in 1969. The scheme aims at developing the personality and character of students through active participation in community service. Guided by its motto "NOT ME, BUT YOU," NSS instils the spirit of selfless service, social responsibility, and national integration among young students. Through various community-oriented activities, NSS provides an opportunity for students to contribute meaningfully towards society while learning values of discipline, leadership, and empathy.
Shahid Bhagat Singh Govt. College, Kotkapura is actively running three NSS Units, comprising 02 Units of boys and 01 Unit of girls. Each unit carries 100 dedicated volunteers, making a total strength of 300 NSS Volunteers in the institution. The NSS units of the college regularly organize programmes focused on social welfare, environmental sustainability, awareness campaigns, and national development activities.
